Read below for the complete overview of the weather in February 2025!

Temperature Trends

February 2025 in Tielt experienced fluctuating temperatures, with an average of 4.5°C. The lowest temperature was -3.2°C, resulting in 9 frost days. The warmest day reached a remarkable 17.6°C.

The month began with moderate temperatures and a few frost days. Around mid-February, it became colder, but from 18 February, the temperature rose significantly, peaking around 21-22 February. The month ended with slightly cooler, yet still mild days.

Precipitation

February 2025 in Tielt was marked by changeable weather, with a total of 54.86 mm of precipitation spread over 14 days. This means that half of the month was wet, while the other half remained dry.

The first days of February were largely dry, but from 8 February, the rain began to increase. Around 8 and 10 February, a significant amount of precipitation fell, with some notable peaks. The month then experienced a dry period between 14 and 20 February, during which hardly any precipitation was measured. Towards the end of the month, rain activity increased again, with notable precipitation peaks on 22 and 26 February.

Wind:

February in Tielt was characterised by changeable wind conditions, with some notable peaks in wind speed and various wind directions throughout the month.

Wind speed

Throughout the month, various fluctuations in wind speed were observed. The maximum wind speed was recorded at 38.6 km/h, while gusts reached up to 40.2 km/h. The most significant peaks occurred around 8 February and 24 February, when wind speeds were significantly higher than average.

The first half of the month showed a mix of moderate and strong winds, with the days around 4 and 8 February standing out the most. Midway through the month, wind speed briefly decreased, only to increase again towards the end of February, with a pronounced peak on 24 February.

Wind directions

In addition to the varying wind speeds, the wind direction also exhibited an interesting spread. The dominant directions during February came from thesouth and southwest, which often indicates milder, moist air flows. In the first half of the month, there were also influences from thenortheast, indicating colder air flows.

The scatter plot of wind directions shows that on some days there was a clear shift in the dominant wind direction. Particularly in the second half of the month, the wind became more stable from the southwest and south, coinciding with the increase in wind speed and gusts.

Sunshine and UV index:

A variable sun image

February in Tielt was characterised by changeable weather, with a mix of sunny and cloudy days. Despite the winter conditions, the sun was visible for a total of 48.9 hours during the month.

At the beginning of February, we saw a number of sunny days, but also periods with significantly less sunlight. Midway through the month, the amount of sunshine increased, and at the end of February, there were some of the sunniest days, as shown by the peaks in the graph.

UV radiation

The UV radiation was generally low, as is typical for this time of year. The highest UV index remained around 2, indicating that the sun is still relatively weak, but can still affect the skin with prolonged exposure. Towards the end of the month, UV radiation gradually increased, heralding the approaching spring.

Air quality:

February in Tielt was marked by fluctuating air quality. The month began with moderate to poor air quality, peaking on 3 February. The first half of the month saw air quality remaining on the higher side, with notably poor days on 10 and 14 February.

From the second half of February, a slight improvement became noticeable, although fluctuations still occurred. The days around 20 February saw a rise in air pollution again, possibly due to low wind and temperature inversions.

After 23 February, we saw a clear recovery in air quality, with 25 and 27 February even recording the best air values of the entire month. This may be related to changing meteorological conditions, such as more wind and precipitation that removed polluting particles from the air.

Conclusion

February 2025 was a month of contrasts in Tielt. Winter still made its presence felt with frosty days and cold spells, but by the end of the month, we experienced an early spring glow with rising temperatures and more sunshine. Precipitation was variable, with both wet and dry periods, and the wind made its mark with some notable peaks in speed and direction.

Air quality showed significant fluctuations, with poor days in the first half of the month and a clear improvement by the end. This underscores the importance of real-time monitoring and conscious measures to limit air pollution.

All in all, February was a dynamic month that perfectly illustrated the transition from winter to spring. The weather demonstrated how quickly conditions can change, and how important it is to be prepared for this. Onwards to spring! 🌸
